The PVA sponge, often referred to as Poly(vinyl Alcohol) Sponge, is a water-soluble synthetic polymer. It is white (colourless) and odourless. Polyvinyl alcohol has excellent film forming, emulsifying and adhesive properties. It is also resistant to oil, grease and solvents. It has high tensile strength and flexibility, as well as high oxygen and aroma barrier properties. However, these properties are dependent on humidity, in other words, with higher humidity more water is absorbed. The water, which acts as a plasticiser, will then reduce its tensile strength, but increase its elongation and tear strength. Elasticity and tensile strength properties help provide durability and allow the material to last much longer than other materials.  

Cleanroom PVA Sponges are used for absorbing and wiping critical and delicate surfaces. Highly absorbent, water retention and abrasive resistant properties make it suitable for many types of cleaning applications. The PVA sponge is completely lint and static free unlike paper or fibrous material wipers, no lint or waste is generated. In addition, the micropores and hydrophilic characteristics of the material help to remove small particulates effectively.
