The PVA sponge, often referred to as Poly(vinyl Alcohol) sponge, is a water-soluble synthetic polymer. It is white (colourless) and odourless. Polyvinyl alcohol has excellent film forming, emulsifying and adhesive properties, and is resistant to oil, grease and solvents. It has high tensile strength and flexibility, as well as high oxygen and aroma barrier properties. These properties depend on humidity: with higher humidity, more water is absorbed. The water acts as a plasticiser, reducing tensile strength but increasing elongation and tear strength. Elasticity and tensile strength help provide durability, allowing the material to last much longer than other materials.

The E2 cleanroom PVA sponge is a 2mm sheet used for absorbing and wiping critical and delicate surfaces. Highly absorbent, with good water retention and abrasion resistance, it is suitable for many types of cleaning applications. Unlike paper or fibrous wipers, the PVA sponge is completely lint and static free, so no lint or waste is generated. The micropores and hydrophilic characteristics of the material help to remove small particulates effectively. Supplied dry.
