North® Bionic Face Shield | Clear Polycarbonate Visor

The North® Bionic 1011623 is a complete face shield supplied with matte black headgear and a clear, uncoated polycarbonate visor. Its full face design incorporates extended chin and top of head coverage, giving a wider area of protection than safety spectacles or goggles alone, with a wide field of vision and a ratcheting headgear mechanism for a secure and comfortable fit.

PIP states that the face shield guards against impact, chemical splash and debris, and that the polycarbonate visor offers 99% UV protection up to 380nm. A patented system allows the visor to be exchanged without removing the headgear, which helps extend the usable life of the face shield system. The headgear offers up to 2,784 possible adjustment positions, allowing the fit and visor position to be adapted to the individual wearer, and the design is dielectric with no metal components.

A face shield is secondary face protection. Suitable safety spectacles or goggles should be worn underneath where the risk assessment requires it, particularly where chemical splash is a risk. A face shield does not provide respiratory protection against vapours, gases or aerosols.
